Nothing To Lose (USA) looks to have an extremely promising horse coming through the ranks following Lose It’s dominant win over 1400m at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Having only his fourth start, the 3YO gelding travelled wide and towards the back of the field for the majority of the race, although in the last 150m he exploded to win by 4 lengths on a heavy track.
This win comes off the back of another dominant win (3 lengths) at Doomben two weeks earlier and from his four starts he has now had 2 wins and a second, with some good judges tipping him to be Nothing To Lose’s best yet.
This is quite remarkable given that Nothing To Lose has already had a 2YO stakes-winner (Silver City) in New Zealand and a recent stakes-placegetter (Venture On) over the Brisbane Winter Carnival from only 23 runners.
Lose It’s last two wins have been in a similar fashion to the way Nothing To Lose raced, he was an explosive finisher and dominated his races.
His greatest win came in the Group 1 Shadwell Turf Mile where he won by 4.5 lengths, the biggest margin in the history of the race.
This same race was also contested by the great Australian mare Alinghi, who was unplaced and also by Arrowfield Stud’s latest sire addition Gio Ponti who was also a winner of this race and now stands for $22,000.
Lose It is trained by Bradley Herne at Eagle Farm and is being targeted at the Grafton Guineas in a couple of weeks time.
Nothing To Lose stands at Queensland’s Willowbend Stud at a fee of $7,700.
